How do I determine my child's League Age?

IRB Little League is open to boys and girls ages 4 - 12 according to Little League rules. Visit https://www.littleleague.org/play-little-league/determine-league-age/ to use the age calculator to determine your child's League Age for the current season.  For our Fall Seasons, we use the Little League age requirements for the FOLLOWING Spring Season. All children are REQUIRED to play in their age-appropriate division, unless they are eligible to play in an older division based on evaluations.

What divisions are my child eligible for, based on their League Age?

THE BELOW GRID IS FOR FALL 2024 AND SPRING 2025 SEASONS ONLY.  IT IS BASED ON YOUR CHILD'S AGE ON AUG 31, 2025.

If your child has played at least one spring season and they are eligible for multiple divisions, we recommend your child move up in the Fall Season.

Can I play with IRB Little League?

Participation in IRB LL is open to all kids League Age 4 to 12. Players must live in our boundary or attend an elementary/middle/high school in our boundary. Before signing up, please verify to make sure a player is eligible to participate by going to the Little League Finder to identify the correct league boundary for your player. The IRB LL boundary is approximately from Sand Key to Indian Rocks Beach on the beach side and, inland, west of Ridge Road between 8th Ave NW to 102nd Ave. Use this map as a guide.

Where is your field located?

Campalong Field is located at Kolb Park, 1507 1st St, Indian Rocks Beach, FL 33785. This is where all baseball practices will be held and all our home games. We occasionally practice on other local fields if ours gets closed due to weather.

While you're here, enjoy the beach or one of our local sponsors for some tasty food and a refreshing beverage! You can't beat playing ball at the beach. :)

When and where are games and practices usually held?

Spring Seasons: Games will begin on Opening Day held mid-Feb and continue through mid-May.

Fall Seasons:
Our fall season is focused on fundamentals and development. The goal is to build skill sets as a team in preparation for the Spring Season. Scrimmages will run mid-September through late-November.

The Tee Ball will play the majority of their games on Saturday mornings. However, there may be some instances where teams need to play on weeknights due to schedule and weather-related issues.

The A and AA divisions will typically have 1-2 practices and 1 game during the week, usually at 5:30pm.

The AAA and Majors divisions will typically have 1-2 practices and 1-2 games per week, usually at 6:30pm. Weekend practices are also usually available.

Since we only have one field we must prioritize the time slots. Field priority is determined by division age, with the older kids getting higher priority but the younger kids getting the earlier time slots. The Majors division gets the highest field priority.

All-Stars are in Spring Season only. Practices begin mid-May with games mid-June through July. depending on how far the team advances.

There are many variables that can affect the game schedule throughout the season including weather, number of teams, field conditions, etc. The IRB Little League Board greatly appreciates your understanding as the schedule may need to be adjusted throughout the season due to weather and other unexpected conditions.

How are teams formed in IRB LL?

Tee Ball, A and AA teams are formed by the board.  At these levels, IRB LL does try to honor requests for coach/teammate while also ensuring balanced teams. Unless a player is moving up, we try to carry forward teams to the next season to maintain continuity for the coaches and players.

Evaluations are mandatory for ALL DIVISIONS except Tee Ball.  A, AA, AAA and Majors players (new + experienced) must be evaluated before the season unless deemed unnecessary by the board or Team Managers. Evaluations are especially helpful when a player is considering moving up to a higher division, and whether a player moves up or not is determined by IRB LL, not by the parents.

AAA and Majors teams are formed by a player draft run by the Team Managers, the IRB LL Coaching Coordinator and the IRB LL Player Agent. All registered players will be assigned to a team. Evaluations and drafts are intended to ensure teams are as balanced as possible. Please note friend requests are not considered as part of the draft process.

What equipment/uniform items are needed?

Your registration fee covers the cost of a jersey, pants, belt, socks and a hat. Tee ball players will be provided a shirt compliments of the Tampa Bay Rays! Tee Ball players may need to buy pants, either from us or on their own. We will let you know.  PLEASE label all of your child's gear with their name!

Players will need to provide their own:

Bats
Gloves
Helmets (with cages)
Cleats
Cups and other Safety Equipment (Elbow Guards, etc)

*However, we almost always have leftover equipment that may fit your player. So, if you forget to bring anything, we will probably be able to provide it.

Also, we have one full set of CATCHER'S GEAR for each team. Catchers cannot catch without a cup, though, which you will need to provide.

What is the USA Baseball Bat Standard? Does my child need a certain type of bat?

All players in IRB LL must follow the USA Baseball bat standard (USABat) as adopted by Little League Baseball, effective January 1, 2018.  All bats used in IRB LL games must be certified/stamped with the official USA Baseball logo showing they comply with the USABat standard.
